Q&A met Tomas Ponsteen
Regisseur van BELOW THE SURFACE
Tomas Ponsteen (1993) studied Documentary Directing at the Netherlands Film Academy. He was born in São Paulo, Brazil and got adopted by his Dutch parents. Nowadays he lives in Amsterdam where he is always researching and developing new film ideas.
He is very passionate to tell diverse queer stories, because when he was younger he missed a variety in films with LGBTQ+ topics. Besides that he is fascinated by the complexity of family bonds and how it affects humans. He likes to reflect on that in his work. In his films he likes to cut up reality with poetry and abstract elements in order to visualize a layered narrative.
