A couple of filmmakers were stuck on the Bolivian-Chilean border for a year and a half. Filmed by the characters, a visual story about growing up and trying to stabilize their relationship in a world that is going through a crisis.
A story of a friendship between Ania and Lidka, her mother-in-law. Ania is strong-minded and determined. Lidka is her opposite, shy and reserved. She has just left her abusive husband. As they meet inside a newsstand kiosk run by Ania. The two women work on a divorce petition that would enable Lidka to begin a new life, free of fear and violence. Despite many harsh words and continuing challenges, they develop slowly a bond that gives them courage and strength.
The Kiosk is a highly emotional film about female solidarity in the face of abuse. As we enter their limited space, we feel the characters who are within our reach. Each gesture, look and tear become incredibly powerful when seen up close.
Ania and Bartek, two stuttering teenagers undergoing speech therapy, are learning to like themselves and stop being afraid.
